A Poem To My Friend

Everyday I thank the Lord for thee
For bringing thee into my life
For showing me how to love
And for loving me

It's so funny how we started this journey
With weird stares and misconceptions
With me only staring and wondering
About this 'girl-next-door'

Whilst you thought I was haughty and cold
I thought and still think
That you are a very interesting person
O what a differing first impression

As time goes by
Little by little
I discovered that you are more than my first impression
A sapphire you are, waiting to be discovered

As we get to know more of each other
We discovered that we share a lot of similar values and interests
However it was your character that drew me to you
It is you that drew me to you

From then on
There wasn't anything that stopped us
As we began our journey together
On the road that is set before us

Along the way
Romance came into the picture
As we fell for each other
The only thing that moved is the rhythm of our hearts

However, this just isn't the time
As God knocked wisdom into the picture
We had to stop
And let God have His time

Though we must breakup
I thank God that we weren't affected much
Though there were tears shed and hearts broken
We eventually commit it to God and let Him heal us

I'm so thankful that you're in my life
That you love me for who I am
No matter what happens
I promise you that no circumstances will change my love for thee

May our friendship grow stronger day after day
Through the calm seas and raging tempests
May time reveal the sweetness of it
Like the wine that gets better and better as time goes by

So my dear Sunshine
Take my hand as we journey on together
With our sights set upon our Saviour
Trusting Him to lead us in our journey
