Launch of Selayang LYPG

Yesterday, on the 3rd of October 2009, marked the launch of Selayang Local Youth Prayer Gathering(LYPG). After a year since the beginning of the local youth prayer movement or widely known as the Malaysian Youth Prayer Gathering(MYPG), at last, we in Selayang have our own LYPG.

For our very first LYPG and its 'launching' ceremony, we have some youths and young adults who attends the KL/PJ LYPG who came to FGA Selayang to show their support and to pray with us. Besides them, the youths from Saving Grace also attended. So, the beginning of Selayang LYPG comprises the youths from FGA Selayang and Saving Grace, plus those from KL/PJ LYPG who attended.

The LYPG started with Yoshua, the chap who was there at the very beginning of the first MYPG in Kluang, and considered the leader of this movement, sharing with us the history of how this youth prayer movement started out. True to his style, his speeches is full of his famous 'constipated looks' while he speaks.

After that, we broke into groups to decide on the 5 memorandums that we want to submit to God, the 5 main areas that we want to focus on. Due to the various issues and points submitted, we decided to break it down into 5 categories, namely Individual, Family, Church, Community and Nation.

Individual
-that God will be so real in our lives
-that we will have an intimate relationship with God, to hear Him everyday in our lives

Family
-For God to mend those with broken families, for reconciliation

Church
-One heart and mind among the members, from the young to the old
-To be the salt and light in our community, that God will show us how

Community
-For crime rates to go down, police will solve crimes quicker and effectively

Nation
-For righteousness and justice to rule this land
-Wisdom for our leaders
-That politicians will stop politicking and work together regardless of which party they belong to ie. no partisanship
-For greater transparency and accountability in all levels of society

Then, Unc Nie, as the adviser, prayed according to the memorandum that we 'sent' to God. After that, we sealed our 'pact' with 3 youths each from FGA Selayang and Saving Grace putting our hands together like football players do before a match. Joining us were Yoshua and Kenneth, who prayed and committed this unto the Lord.

With that, our very own LYPG was launched. May this be the beginning of greater things to come. The Lord's will be done :-)
